Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the AutoDub browser extension, autodub.net, and any related interface or service we provide (together, the "Service"), operated by AutoDub ("we", "us", "our"). By installing, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

AutoDub is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google or YouTube. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC.

The Service

AutoDub translates the caption track that YouTube makes available for a video and plays synthetic speech alongside it.

Descriptions of the Service on our website, in store listings, or in the extension are provided for information only. They are not warranties and not commitments. We may add, change, restrict, or remove any feature, language, voice, quota, or capability at any time, without notice.

License

We grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to install and run the unmodified extension, obtained from an official distribution channel, to view YouTube videos yourself.

That license is the only right you receive. We reserve every other right. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of the extension, the website, our servers, our interfaces, the AutoDub name, or the AutoDub logo.

Restrictions

You must not, and must not help or permit anyone else to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, deobfuscate, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, algorithms, prompts, models, or internal design of any part of the Service, except to the precise extent this restriction cannot be excluded by law.
• Inspect, intercept, record, replay, or reconstruct traffic between the extension and our servers in order to document, reimplement, or replicate our interfaces.
• Reach our servers or interfaces by any means other than the unmodified official extension, or build, publish, or operate any client, library, wrapper, proxy, or service that calls them.
• Forge, extract, reuse, share, or bypass request signatures, keys, tokens, quotas, rate limits, or any other technical measure that controls access to the Service.
• Use the Service, its interfaces, or its output as a general translation, text-to-speech, or media-processing backend, or resell, sublicense, or otherwise make any of it available to a third party.
• Use the Service or its output to develop, train, evaluate, or improve a competing or derivative product, model, or dataset.
• Copy, modify, adapt, translate, repackage, or distribute the extension, create derivative works of it, or remove or alter any notice, branding, or attribution it carries.
• Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download any part of the Service, or send automated, scripted, or high-volume requests to it.
• Probe, scan, stress-test, or seek unauthorized access to the Service, or interfere with its operation or with anyone else's use of it.
• Use the Service unlawfully, in breach of a third party's rights, or in breach of applicable export control or sanctions law.

We may investigate suspected breaches, and may suspend or end access at any time, with or without notice.

Fees

The Service is currently provided free of charge. We may introduce charges, usage limits, or paid tiers, and may change or withdraw free access, at any time.

Eligibility and Accounts

Use the Service only if you can enter into a binding contract under the law that applies to you, and only where the Service is lawful. If you are below the age of majority where you live, use the Service only with the consent of a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf.

If you create or use an account on autodub.net, you are responsible for keeping its credentials secure and for all activity under it.

YouTube, Copyright, and Your Responsibility

These Terms grant you no right in any content you access or process through the Service.

Your use of YouTube stays governed by YouTube's own terms. You are solely responsible for complying with them, with copyright law, and with any other law that applies to your use of the Service. Do not record, republish, distribute, or commercially exploit output from the Service unless you hold the rights to do so.

We do not review or monitor the videos you process. If you believe the Service is being used to infringe your rights, email hi@autodub.net.

Output

Translations and synthetic speech are generated automatically. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, mistimed, offensive, or unfit for your purpose. We do not review, endorse, or take responsibility for output. Do not rely on it where accuracy matters, including medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions.

Third-Party Services and Distribution Channels

The Service depends on third-party platforms, providers, and networks that we neither own nor control, including YouTube and the browser extension stores. Their acts, outages, policy changes, or removal of the extension may interrupt or end your access to the Service, and we are not responsible for them.

No Support Obligation

We have no obligation to provide support, maintenance, updates, or fixes, or to retain, preserve, or return any cached or stored data.

Suspension, Changes, and Termination

We may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue the Service or any part of it, and may block, suspend, or terminate your access, at any time, for any reason or none, with or without notice, and without liability to you.

You may end these Terms at any time by uninstalling the extension and no longer using the Service.

Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions, bug reports, or other feedback, you grant us an unrestricted, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to use it for any purpose, with no obligation, attribution, or payment to you.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and any warranty that the Service will be available, uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or free of harmful components. You use the Service at your own risk.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profit, revenue, data, goodwill, or opportunity, however caused and on any theory of liability, even if we were advised that such loss was possible.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed USD 50.

Indemnification

You will defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless against any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, or cost, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your use of the Service, the output you produce with it, your breach of these Terms, or your breach of any law or third-party right.

General

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, it is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest stays in force. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service and replace any earlier understanding. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them freely. The Restrictions, Output, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and General sections survive termination.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits a liability or a right that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you, including mandatory consumer rights.

Changes to These Terms

We may change these Terms at any time. The revised Terms take effect when posted on this page, and we update the effective date above. If you continue to use the Service after that, you accept the revised Terms.
